"Inconvenient That Most Shops Do Not Accept Cash"
A travel review posted by a Japanese tourist who visited Korea has become a hot topic on social media. The post mainly described the characteristics and impressions of Korea, and it has resonated not only with most Japanese people but also with Koreans, amassing nearly 2 million views.
Recently, a Japanese netizen summarized their impressions of Korea into about 11 points and shared them on their social media account. The main point was that there are few places to use cash. While it is possible to use cash at places like street vendors, most stores make it difficult to pay with cash.
The post also mentioned that Koreans in their 20s and 30s are stylish, and that Japanese-language announcements on the subway were helpful. However, the reviewer also pointed out some drawbacks, such as the large number of illegally parked cars and the fact that the overall atmosphere is not very different from Japan.
Most Korean netizens have expressed agreement with these observations. One commenter said, "When I return to Korea after living abroad, I get stressed out because cash is not accepted. If your card expires, you have to get it reissued, but if you don't have a Korean phone number, there's no way to do it."
Another netizen remarked, "From Starbucks to most franchise chains, everyone uses kiosks, and even street vendors selling bungeoppang use bank transfers," expressing concern by adding, "If we don't have QR codes like in China, will it become impossible to go about our daily lives?"
