KakaoPay Successfully Concludes Charity Marathon Online Event, Donates 2 Billion Won to Small Business Owners

On December 1, KakaoPay announced that, thanks to the enthusiastic support for the "2025 Long Run" marathon campaign held in collaboration with singer Sean, it has finalized a donation of 2 billion won to support small business owners.

KakaoPay conducted the donation campaign through the step-counting application "Manboki" during the online marathon event, which ran from November 14 to November 30.

A total of 260,448 people participated in the campaign. According to KakaoPay, this set a new record for the highest number of participants in a virtual run campaign in Korea.

The total step count surpassed 20 billion within just 17 days of the campaign's start, with the final cumulative step count reaching 22.5 billion.

When accepting applications for the campaign, KakaoPay initially pledged to donate 1 billion won to the Together Foundation to support small business owners if participants collectively reached 1 billion steps.

However, due to the campaign's explosive popularity, the 1 billion step goal was achieved in just 28 hours.

In response, KakaoPay decided to donate an additional 1 billion won-500 million won each for reaching 10 billion and 20 billion cumulative steps-if these milestones were achieved by November 30.

Ultimately, as the online event surpassed the 20 billion step milestone and concluded successfully, KakaoPay confirmed the 2 billion won donation.

Shin Wonkeun, CEO of KakaoPay, stated, "Thanks to the participation of more than 260,000 users in the 2025 Long Run, our commitment to grow together with small business owners has become a reality."

The offline marathon event will take place at 9 a.m. on December 6 at Hanam Misa Gyeongjeong Park, where 5,100 participants will run a 10 km course with singer Sean.
