Candidates to Be Narrowed Down in Three Meetings Next Month
Board Restructuring Underway... Preliminary Candidates Under Review
The final candidate for KT's next CEO is expected to be decided on December 16.
According to the telecommunications industry on November 30, KT’s CEO Candidate Recommendation Committee plans to hold three meetings on December 2, 9, and 16 to gradually narrow down the list of candidates.
On December 2, the committee will reduce the number of candidates from 16 to 8 through a document screening process. Previously, the committee confirmed a pool of 33 candidates for the next CEO through an open recruitment process and, after consulting with the selection advisory panel, narrowed it down to 16.
At the meeting on December 9, one week later, the committee will select and announce 4 finalists from the 8 remaining candidates for the final interview. The final interview is scheduled for December 16, and it is highly likely that the final candidate will be decided on the same day.
After the board of directors confirms the final candidate to be recommended to the general shareholders’ meeting, the new CEO will be appointed following approval at the regular shareholders’ meeting early next year.
KT is also in the process of restructuring its board of directors. This is to fill the vacancies of four outside directors-Choi Yanghee, President of Hallym University; Yoon Jongsoo, former Vice Minister of Environment; Ahn Youngkyun, Director at the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC); and Cho Seungah, Professor at Seoul National University Business School-whose terms will end at next year’s shareholders’ meeting. Currently, KT has eight outside directors, who are leading the CEO selection process as members of the committee.
The committee has been accepting nominations for preliminary outside director candidates from shareholders until November 26 and is currently reviewing them.
