"Contributing to Increased Farm Income"
Muju County in North Jeolla Province conducted agricultural machinery (excavator) safety accident prevention training for local farmers from November 24 to 28.
According to the county on November 28, the training was held at the agricultural machinery rental center within the Muju County Agricultural Technology Center. The program aimed to protect the precious lives of farmers and contribute to increasing farm income.
The county ensured safety by granting excavator rental qualifications only to farmers who completed both practical and safety training on agricultural machinery operation.
The 41 farmers who participated in the training received instruction on the theory of safe use of agricultural machinery, practical training on safe driving and operation, and education on loading and unloading procedures.
The farmers stated, "We received thorough training starting from the basics, such as wearing safety helmets," and added, "We will keep in mind that following agricultural machinery safety rules protects ourselves and our families, and we will apply what we have learned."
In addition to agricultural machinery rental and mobile repair (training) services, the county is also providing farm work support services to help alleviate labor shortages and reduce management costs.
The county owns 505 units of agricultural machinery across 78 types, including branch shredders and power carriers. This year, it has been running rental services at three locations: the main Muju office (operating year-round), and the Mupung and Anseong branches (operating Monday to Saturday), also offering farm work support services.
A 3.5-ton free repair vehicle carrying 19,662 parts for 330 types of machinery has traveled to remote villages without repair shops and with inconvenient transportation, completing repairs on small agricultural machines such as cultivators, management machines, sprayers, and brush cutters.
