On December 1 in Angye-myeon and on December 2 in the traditional market area of Uiseong-eup, the county will conduct a "Mobile AIDS Prevention and Awareness Campaign," providing practical prevention information to the younger generation.

According to statistics from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the number of new HIV infections in Korea has remained at around 1,000 cases annually in recent years-1,005 cases in 2023 and 975 in 2024. In particular, the proportion of cases among people in their 20s and 30s is on the rise. As a result, promoting awareness and early testing among young people has become increasingly important.

The county is implementing "on-site prevention promotion" by directly visiting popular gathering places for young people, such as caf? streets and traditional markets, to improve accessibility. Under the slogan "Zero Infection, Zero Properly," the campaign will feature participatory programs including instant prevention quizzes, guidance on the use of preventive tools, promotion of the importance of early testing, and information on free and anonymous testing at public health centers.

Additionally, from December 1 to 7, the county will designate a "Focused AIDS Prevention Week" and intensify awareness activities through various channels, such as the public health center website, digital billboards in towns and villages, on-site promotions for market visitors, and leaflet distribution.

In 2026, the county plans to continue intensive promotion of AIDS and sexually transmitted infections, focusing on multi-use venues with high foot traffic among people in their 20s and 30s.

With advances in treatment technology, AIDS is now recognized as a manageable chronic disease. While support for patient care and infection control costs is expanding, cases of delayed testing due to social stigma and misinformation still persist, highlighting the importance of delivering accurate information.

Kim Jusu, Governor of Uiseong County, stated, "I hope this campaign will make it easy for young people to access prevention information," adding, "We will do our utmost to build an inclusive community where all residents are safely protected."
