Sinan County in South Jeolla Province will host the 11th Sinan Cheonil Salt National Student Go Tournament at 1:00 p.m. on November 29 at the Sinan County Gymnasium in Aphae-eup.

This tournament, co-hosted by the county and Jeonnam Maeil, has attracted applications from around 250 student Go enthusiasts from across the country.

The tournament will feature a total of 14 divisions, including individual and team matches by region and age group, providing a stage for young players of various skill levels to showcase their abilities. The opening ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. on the same day at the Sinan County Gymnasium, with key figures such as the acting mayor of Sinan County, the chairman of the Sinan County Council, and the CEO of Jeonnam Maeil in attendance to encourage the participants.

The county is well known as a region that has produced many talented Go players. In particular, as the hometown of Lee Sedol, Sinan has continuously hosted major tournaments such as the Lee Sedol Cup National Go Tournament, the World Go Championship, and the Jeollanam-do Guksu Mountain Range. The county also operates Go classes at elementary schools and senior colleges, working to expand the base of Go players.

Kim Hyunhee, Director of Sinan County Health Center, stated, "The Sinan Cheonil Salt National Student Go Tournament began in 2012 and was held as a Gwangju-Jeonnam regional event through its ninth edition. Since last year's 10th tournament, it has expanded to a national scale," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our support to promote Go as a sport."
