Establishing a Consignment-Based Carbon Credit Trading System
Stellantis Korea announced on November 28 that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hushi Partners, a company specializing in carbon credit trading, for a carbon credit business agreement. The company will introduce a program that, for the first time in Korea, converts individual electric vehicle customers' carbon reduction achievements into tangible benefits.
Under this program, Stellantis Korea will be authorized by electric vehicle customers to trade carbon credits through Hushi Partners, and the profits generated from these transactions will be returned to the customers.
The electric vehicle mileage accumulated by customers will be converted into carbon credits by Stellantis Korea and sold on consignment. Customers will receive coupons, points, or other rewards equivalent to the credits they have delegated, which can be used for maintenance, parts, or lifestyle product purchases at official service centers and other locations.
Hushi Partners operates an "electric vehicle program and unit reduction project" approved by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The company certifies the greenhouse gas reduction achievements of individuals who have replaced internal combustion engine vehicles with electric vehicles, converts these achievements into carbon credits, and provides specialized solutions to trade them with designated companies subject to carbon allocations.
Bangsil, CEO of Stellantis Korea, stated, "It is significant that, for the first time in Korea, we are applying a virtuous cycle structure that connects each customer's eco-friendly actions to economic value, even for individual passenger car customers." She added, "We will continue to develop a variety of programs to further expand tangible benefits for our customers, while also contributing to the creation of a sustainable mobility ecosystem."
