Solbitnaru Station to Be Established in Dongtan, Hwaseong, Passes Central Investment Review

The project to establish 'Solbitnaru Station' (tentative name) in Dongtan 1 District, Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, is expected to gain momentum.

On November 27, Hwaseong City announced that the project to build Solbitnaru Station on the extension line of Subway Line 1 from Seodongtan to Dongtan has passed the central investment review by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The central investment review is a procedure that evaluates the necessity and appropriateness of a project before implementation, in order to prevent overlapping investments in local government budgets and to ensure planned and efficient operations. With the project passing this review, all preliminary administrative procedures prior to budget allocation and detailed design for the establishment of Solbitnaru Station have been completed, giving new impetus to the project.

Solbitnaru Station will be built in Dongtan 1 District, within the Seodongtan to Dongtan section of the Subway Line 1 extension project. Once the station is established, accessibility to Byeongjeom Station-which serves as a transfer point between Subway Line 1 and the GTX-C metropolitan express railway-and to Dongtan Station, which connects to the SRT, GTX-A, Dongtan-Indeogwon Line, and Dongtan Tram, will be improved.

This project is being pursued under the 'cost bearer pays' principle, in accordance with the Act on the Construction and Maintenance of Railways and Railway Facilities, with Hwaseong City covering the costs.

With all preliminary administrative procedures for the project now complete, the city plans to include the project budget in next year's main budget and proceed with detailed design, project plan approval, and groundbreaking.

In particular, the city intends to maximize the project's effectiveness by aiming to open Solbitnaru Station simultaneously with the opening of the Indeogwon-Dongtan double-track railway construction project.
