Trial Operations to Begin Next Month at Chungmu Sports Center and Other Locations
Jung-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Gilseong), will establish screen park golf courses at five public facilities within the district by March next year. This is the first time such facilities are being introduced in Jung-gu, and a total of 21 hitting bays will be installed, making it the largest among all Seoul districts.
Chungmu Sports Center and Hunryeonwon Park will begin trial operations starting next month. Six hitting bays have been installed on the 6th floor of Chungmu Sports Center, and one hitting bay has been set up at the comprehensive gymnasium on the 1st floor of Hunryeonwon Park. The Jung-gu Facilities Management Corporation will be responsible for operations.
Next month, feedback will be collected from residents’ trial groups and general users on a first-come, first-served basis. Based on this feedback, improved services will be provided when official operations begin next year. The residents’ trial group can use the facility for free for two hours per session, either from 9:00 a.m. or from 1:30 p.m., from December 1 to December 19, with a limit of two sessions per person. Applications can be made through the Jung-gu District Office website or by phone (02-3396-4654).
Non-residents of Jung-gu can apply via the Jung-gu Facilities Management Corporation website (www.e-junggu.or.kr) or the Seoul Public Service Reservation system (yeyak.seoul.go.kr), and may use the facility for two hours per day. Beginners will receive basic swing guidance and can enjoy the facility without any special equipment. Up to four people can use each hitting bay at the same time.
Jung-gu is also in the process of installing additional screen park golf courses at three more locations: Euljinuri Center, Chungmu Startup Cube, and Yurak Welfare Center. By March next year, a total of 14 more hitting bays will be added.
Park golf has gained significant popularity as it can be enjoyed anywhere with just one club. Over the past three years, the number of registered members has surged by 183%, and the number of park golf courses has nearly doubled over the past five years. As a result, indoor screen park golf courses are also rapidly spreading.
Kim Gilseong, Mayor of Jung-gu, stated, “Now, residents can fully enjoy the increasingly popular screen park golf right here in Jung-gu. I hope everyone can maintain a vibrant daily life with family and friends even during the cold winter, and we will continue to expand the foundation for sports for all.”
