On the 26th (local time), the British Daily Mail reported, "On a ferry traveling from Koh Tao to Koh Samui in Thailand, dozens of pieces of luggage fell into the sea and drifted away because they were not properly secured during the voyage."
According to the report, on the 23rd, an Australian tourist named Alice Zamparelli, who was on board the ferry, witnessed her suitcase floating on the water. She shared the footage of the incident on social media. The video drew attention, garnering thousands of views on social media.
The video showed several suitcases and backpacks floating on the sea. Zamparelli captioned the video, "Lost all our luggage due to incompetent crew."

At the time, it was found that the ferry operator had failed to properly secure the luggage loaded on the upper deck. In addition, rough sea conditions contributed to dozens of bags falling into the water. Some passengers reported that "the bow of the ship was even submerged."
Zamparelli stated that she received compensation of about 50,000 baht (approximately 2.29 million won). She said, "I only received it after persistently demanding compensation, but some passengers received nothing and even missed their flights." Zamparelli ultimately was unable to recover her luggage.
In the comments, she explained, "The ferry staff insisted that no suitcase could be worth more than 20,000 baht (920,000 won), but in reality, the value of our luggage was around 100,000 baht (4.58 million won)." She also expressed her dissatisfaction, saying, "The staff dismissed our explanations, claiming that prices in Thailand are lower than in Australia."
The media outlet reported, "The route connecting Koh Tao and Koh Samui is notorious for rough seas, especially during the rainy season."
