"Are You Out of Your Mind?" Why Jensen Huang Reprimanded NVIDIA Employees

Furious at Managers Who Ordered Reduced AI Usage
"Every Task That Can Be Automated with AI Should Be Automated"
"Thousands Hired Last Quarter... Still Need 10,000 More"

Business Insider reported on the 25th (local time) that Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, was furious during a recent all-hands meeting over reports that some managers had instructed employees to reduce their use of artificial intelligence (AI).

During the meeting on the 20th, CEO Huang said, "I heard that there are managers within NVIDIA who have told people to cut back on AI usage," and reprimanded them, asking, "Are you out of your mind?"

He continued, "I want every task that can be automated with AI to be automated."

This meeting took place the day after NVIDIA reported its highest earnings ever on the 19th.

CEO Huang mentioned that NVIDIA's software engineers are already using the AI coding assistant 'Cursor.' He urged employees to continue using AI even if it is not perfectly suited for certain tasks, saying, "Participate in improving AI. We are capable of doing that."

Recently, major big tech companies have been encouraging employees to expand their use of AI in daily work. Microsoft and Meta plan to include employees' use of AI as part of their performance evaluations, while Google has instructed engineers to use AI for coding. Amazon is also considering introducing Cursor in response to internal requests.

While emphasizing the adoption of AI, CEO Huang dismissed concerns about job cuts. He said, "While other tech companies are restructuring, NVIDIA hired thousands of people just in the last quarter," joking that "as a result, the company parking lot is full."

He added, "To be honest, we still need about 10,000 more people," but noted, "However, the pace of hiring must match the speed at which we can integrate and harmonize new employees."

In fact, NVIDIA has been rapidly expanding its workforce. The number of employees increased from 29,600 at the end of fiscal year 2024 to 36,000 at the end of fiscal year 2025. The company recently opened new offices in Taipei and Shanghai, and is constructing two new facilities in the United States.
