Yeosu Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong Inspects 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo Site

Thorough Review of Transportation Measures Underway

On November 25, Jeong Gi-myeong, Mayor of Yeosu City, held an on-site briefing meeting at Dolsan Jinmo District, the main venue for the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo, together with senior city officials, members of the Islands Expo Organizing Committee, and representatives from the Islands Expo Support Team, to ensure the successful hosting of the Expo.


This meeting was organized to comprehensively review the status of the main venue construction and to discuss key issues, such as developing land transportation measures to enhance visitor convenience.

The participants inspected the site in person, focusing on the progress of infrastructure development, on-site safety management plans, and efficient shuttle bus operation strategies, among other operational preparations.


The Islands Expo Organizing Committee and the Islands Expo Support Team reported on the status of the main venue construction, plans for landmark and outdoor performance spaces, exhibition hall and island-themed zone arrangements, parking lot availability and shuttle bus operations, and traffic management measures, sharing items that require further improvement going forward.


Mayor Jeong stated, "We will thoroughly review the remaining preparations to ensure that the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo becomes a global island festival that attracts visitors from around the world, and we will do our utmost to create an event that satisfies both citizens and guests."


Meanwhile, the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo, under the theme "Islands: Connecting the Sea and the Future," will be held for two months from September 5 to November 4, 2026, at the main venue in Dolsan Jinmo District, as well as at Geumodo, Gaedo, and the Yeosu World Expo site. As the world's first international expo dedicated to the theme of islands, 18 countries have already confirmed their participation.
