Gwanak-gu Strengthens Emotional and Daily Life Support for Self-Reliant Youth

Expansion of Customized Independence Support Programs for Youth

Gwanak-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Junhee) announced on November 25 that it is collaborating with the Seoul branch of the Korean Red Cross to run the "Together: Standing Project - It's Okay, Because We're Together" from September to December, in order to support the stable independence of self-reliant youth.

This initiative consists of three main programs: the provision of customized kits, delivery of ready-to-eat meals by volunteers, and operation of the Youth Bakery Program.

The customized kits, which include beauty, health, and daily necessities, are provided twice to 20 self-reliant youth. For the ready-to-eat meal support, volunteers visit the homes of self-reliant youth five times to deliver the meals directly. In the Youth Bakery Program, small groups participate in baking activities with professional instructors, fostering interaction among participants. In addition, the district is also running a program that provides 1 million won for the purchase of home appliances to self-reliant youth.

The district government is responsible for planning, promotion, and recruitment of participants, while the Seoul branch of the Korean Red Cross is in charge of funding and program operation, working together in cooperation.

Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, stated, "I hope this project will help self-reliant youth in their journey toward independence and in building social networks," adding, "We will continue to be a strong supporter so that self-reliant youth can pursue their dreams with confidence."

Meanwhile, as of the end of October this year, Gwanak-gu has 148 self-reliant youth residents, the highest number among all districts in Seoul.
