A tragic accident occurred around noon on November 24, when a firefighter was found in cardiac arrest at the scene of a fire suppression operation at an auto repair shop in Haengsin-dong, Deogyang-gu, Goyang City. The firefighter was immediately transported to the hospital.

According to the Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters, a fire broke out around noon at a four-story auto repair shop located in Haengsin-dong, Deogyang-gu, Goyang City. The fire department responded and completely extinguished the blaze by around 1:20 p.m.
During the firefighting operation, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Fire Captain A, who is in his late 40s and was working at the fire site on the third floor, was found by the rescue team leader in a state of cardiac arrest. Upon discovery, Fire Captain A received CPR at the scene and was urgently transported to the hospital.
A fire department official stated, "As of 1:30 p.m., Fire Captain A's heart rhythm has been restored, but spontaneous circulation has not yet fully stabilized."
Notably, at the time of discovery, Fire Captain A was wearing his air respirator mask properly, and there were no external signs of burns or heat-related injuries. Therefore, a thorough investigation into the exact cause of the cardiac arrest is deemed necessary.
A total of 56 firefighters and 20 pieces of equipment were mobilized for the firefighting operation. The fire department stated that they are currently working to determine the precise cause and circumstances of the accident, while also making every effort to support the injured firefighter's recovery.
