Users Can Directly Select and Manage MCP Tools
Immediate Use on External Services After Account Authentication
Kakao announced on the 24th that it has newly added a toolbox feature to 'PlayMCP,' an open platform based on MCP launched last July.
PlayMCP is an open platform based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) that enables various AI models to safely connect with external tools. MCP is a communication protocol that standardizes how artificial intelligence (AI) models interact with external data or tools, allowing users to process tasks by linking external services within a single AI service.

The newly introduced toolbox allows users to select and manage numerous MCP tools registered on PlayMCP in one place, and to use them with external AI services such as ChatGPT or Claude simply by authenticating with their Kakao account.
According to Kakao, using the toolbox simplifies the integration process between AI services. After account authentication, users can request the MCP tools they have selected through PlayMCP within any AI service. For example, requests such as "Send the information you just told me to my KakaoTalk chatroom with myself," "Tell me my schedule for today," "Show me the list of gifts I have received," or "Play again the Melon song I listened to on this day last year" can be executed accordingly.
Both services allow users to immediately access all tools stored in the toolbox with a single Kakao account authentication. Users can visit the PlayMCP website, log in with their Kakao account, and add the desired MCP tools to their toolbox. In ChatGPT, users can select 'Developer Mode,' register a custom MCP server internet address (URL), and authenticate the toolbox to use it. In Claude, users can select 'Settings,' then connect the PlayMCP toolbox via 'Custom Connector' to enable its use.
Kakao plans to connect not only Kakao services but also MCP tools from external partners through the toolbox in the future. Yoo Yongha, Head of AI Agent Platform at Kakao, said, "The addition of the toolbox feature to PlayMCP signifies that AI can evolve from being a simple conversational partner to becoming an everyday AI that understands and executes real-life tasks for users," adding, "We will continue to enhance the platform so that developers and users can further expand their agentic AI experiences."
