A Freshman Makes Waves... Dongseo University Advertising and PR Student Wins Top Prize at Innocean "S.O.S Contest" Seungcheol Baek, Department of Advertising and Public Relations, College of Design, Dongseo University.

The "S.O.S Contest" is Innocean's flagship CSR program in which university students propose creative ideas to solve social issues. This year's theme was "Barrier-Free: Making the World Freer with Brilliant Ideas."

The contest sought innovative ideas that could address not only physical barriers but also psychological barriers arising from prejudice, stereotypes, and social perspectives. The Ministry of Education and the Beautiful Foundation also co-hosted this year's event.

The grand prize-winning entry proposed a self-examination kit that allows users to realistically experience "lumps," a common symptom of breast cancer. The solution was highly praised as a "lifestyle barrier-free solution" that enables anyone to easily learn self-examination methods, addressing low breast cancer screening rates caused by financial burdens, fear, and limited accessibility. The intuitive usability and realistic feasibility of the proposal also received high marks from the judges.

Seungcheol Baek said, "It still feels surreal and is such an honor. The process was not easy, but it was a time of deep personal growth for me. I believe this will be a turning point I will remember for a long time in my life."

Kim Jeonga, CEO of Innocean, stated, "I was deeply impressed by the fresh ideas of university students who identified and sought to solve previously unseen barriers," adding, "We will continue to support ideas that address social issues so they can expand into real campaigns, and we will keep running CSR programs to nurture the next generation of creative talent."
