Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu District in Gwangju, held a book launch event for "Good Ikang Power," a book capturing three years of transformation in Seo-gu, on the 4th floor convention hall of the Kim Daejung Convention Center on the 23rd. This event, the first of its kind nationwide for a sitting district mayor, was a great success, attracting a steady stream of residents and visitors.
At the Kim Daejung Convention Center on the 23rd, the book launch event for Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, Gwangju, titled "Good Ikang Power" took place.
The formal ceremony was omitted. Instead, the venue featured book displays, a meet-and-greet with the author, and a photo and policy archive, all designed to foster "quiet yet profound communication." Mayor Kim personally explained the innovative administration and achievements of the past three years under the 8th popularly elected term, stating, "The past three years in Seo-gu have shown how positive influence can become the new standard for a city."
"Good Ikang Power" is an urban innovation report that summarizes the administrative changes in Seo-gu over the past three years under the keyword "positive influence." The book consists of four chapters: ▲ the background of the birth of "Good City Seo-gu" and Mayor Kim's administrative philosophy and beliefs ▲ innovative policies that gained national attention such as "Neighborhood Economy 119," "One Thousand Won Noodles," and shared parking lots ▲ achievements based on public-private cooperation such as Seo-gu Honors ▲ and future visions including "Neighborhood Economy Season 2" and digital inclusion administration.
Mayor Kim stated, "This book is both a record of past changes and a preview of even greater changes to come," adding, "We will make administration more flexible, welfare more thorough, and the economy warmer."
Meanwhile, Mayor Kim recently drew attention when he was invited to the head table at a national luncheon meeting for mayors, county governors, and district mayors hosted by President Lee Jaemyung, where he personally introduced Seo-gu's "Neighborhood Economy 119 Project." This policy previously received the Prime Minister's Award at the "Excellent Local Government Policy Awards."
