Expanding Participation in National Projects Focused on AI and HVAC
Strengthening B2G Business Based on Middle East and Africa Hubs
LG Electronics is expanding its business scope in the Middle East by increasing business-to-government (B2G) transactions based on state-led projects.
On November 19, LG Electronics announced that it had signed a "Strategic Partnership for Smart City Construction" with Expo City Dubai, an agency under the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in Dubai, UAE.
The two parties agreed to collaborate on the development of a smart city on the Dubai Expo site (3.5 km²), where approximately 35,000 people will reside, focusing on AI-based energy efficiency and renewable energy infrastructure. This initiative is also linked to the UAE government's "We the UAE 2031" core objectives of carbon neutrality and sustainable urban development. The signing event was attended by Jo Joo-wan, CEO of LG Electronics, and Ahmed Al Khatib, Head of Development and Supply at Expo City Dubai.

In line with its "space package" strategy, which offers space as a service, LG Electronics plans to supply HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) solutions that have become increasingly important with the spread of AI data centers, as well as smart home solutions based on AI home hubs. Previously, LG Electronics supplied high-brightness LED signage to the Dubai Expo in 2020, and recently signed a contract to provide built-in appliances for 3,000 households in the smart city currently being developed by Expo City Dubai.
LG Electronics has strengthened its business portfolio in the Middle East, spanning business-to-consumer (B2C), business-to-business (B2B), and B2G transactions. Since establishing a subsidiary in the UAE in 1996, the company has operated there for nearly 30 years and manages a regional headquarters overseeing 75 locations across the Middle East and Africa. Beyond the UAE, LG Electronics continues to expand its business through participation in national projects and partnerships with local companies in countries such as Saudi Arabia.
CEO Jo Joo-wan stated, "LG Electronics' HVAC technology and AI-based smart home solutions will contribute to the UAE's vision for future cities," adding, "We will actively pursue new B2G business opportunities in the Middle East, where there are many national projects."
