Yeongcheon City Council Focuses on Key Issues Including Cultural Heritage Excavation and Agricultural Policies

Regular Briefing Session Held on the 20th
Emphasis on Interdepartmental Cooperation to Address Local Issues

The Yeongcheon City Council (Chairman Kim Seontae) held a regular briefing session for all council members on the 20th, attended by council members and heads of relevant departments from the executive branch. During the session, they exchanged opinions on a total of seven agenda items, including the implementation plan for the Wansandong Ancient Tombs Restoration and Maintenance Project submitted by Yeongcheon City, the "Ordinance Bill on Support for Small Special Agricultural Machinery License Acquisition Education Expenses in Yeongcheon City" (jointly sponsored by Assembly members Lee Younggi, Kim Yongmun, and Ha Gitae), and the "Ordinance Bill on Support for Safe Disposal of Agricultural By-products in Yeongcheon City" (sponsored by Assemblyman Kwon Gihan).

Regarding the implementation plan for the Wansandong Ancient Tombs Restoration and Maintenance Project, Assemblyman Ha Gitae pointed out that, when promoting the excavation of cultural heritage and the maintenance project for the Wansandong tombs, it is necessary to simultaneously conduct a survey of cultural assets around the straight military road currently under construction between Jaksandong and Wansandong in order to enhance the efficiency of both budget and administration.

Assemblyman Kim Sangho noted that confusion is arising due to changes in road alignment caused by the excavation of cultural assets, and called for the relevant departments to cooperate based on comprehensive blueprints and plans. Assemblyman Kim Jonguk also requested that the departments take a proactive and comprehensive approach to ensure that the projects proceed smoothly without delays.

Regarding the complete revision of the Yeongcheon Agricultural Products Wholesale Market Work Regulations, Assemblyman Kim Sangho pointed out that, in relation to the wholesale market corporation, there is a need for legal review and improvement to address potential conflicts of interest and fairness issues arising from executives concurrently serving as auctioneers. Assemblyman Lee Youngwoo emphasized the necessity of establishing regulations that reflect the actual circumstances of the local area.

The "Ordinance Bill on Support for Small Special Agricultural Machinery License Acquisition Education Expenses in Yeongcheon City," sponsored by Assemblyman Lee Younggi, aims to prevent safety accidents caused by unlicensed driving and to contribute to the safety and welfare of farmers by promoting the mechanization of agriculture and improving productivity.

The "Ordinance Bill on Support for Safe Disposal of Agricultural By-products in Yeongcheon City," sponsored by Assemblyman Kwon Gihan, is expected to resolve issues such as wildfires and air pollution caused by illegal burning, which occurs annually, by expanding environmentally friendly treatment methods such as shredding. It is also anticipated to have various effects, including resource circulation, improvement of the agricultural environment, and wildfire prevention.

Chairman Kim Seontae stated, "Through this briefing session, we will respond meticulously to issues affecting people's livelihoods, and we will strive to become a council that leads change and innovation so that the matters discussed today can be reflected in the upcoming 249th regular session."
