105th National Council of Superintendents of Provincial and Metropolitan Offices of Education General Assembly Held in Tongyeong, Hosted by Gyeongnam Office of Education

Deliberation and Approval of Agenda Items Including the Legalization of Parental Participation in Education

The 105th National Council of Superintendents of Provincial and Metropolitan Offices of Education General Assembly will be held over two days starting November 20 at the Stanford Hotel & Resort in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam Province.


This general assembly, hosted by the National Council of Superintendents of Provincial and Metropolitan Offices of Education and organized by the Gyeongnam Office of Education, brings together superintendents from all 17 provincial and metropolitan offices of education, including Park Jonghun, Superintendent of Gyeongnam Office of Education, to share key issues in education policy and discuss joint response measures.

On the first day, Choi Gyojin, Minister of Education, also attended and held a discussion session on strengthening the protection of educational activities.


Minister Choi and the superintendents exchanged views on policy directions to protect teachers’ educational activities, restore trust among students, parents, and teachers, and foster a mutually supportive school culture.


During the subsequent general assembly, participants will deliberate and vote on nationwide issues, including the legalization of parental participation in education, guaranteeing immunity for teachers in the event of safety accidents during educational activities, and amendments to the Private School Act regarding the remuneration and service of private school administrative staff.


In the session on education policy case studies, each office of education will share exemplary cases and explore visions for the future of education together.

The Gyeongnam Office of Education, as the organizer, will present pre-event performances by Geochang Theater High School, Goseong Music High School, and Miryang Film High School, as well as cases of utilizing closed schools in Gyeongnam.


In particular, they will introduce research on school meals using local food ingredients, efforts to enhance the professionalism of cooking staff, and the newly established student meal research institute "Matbom," all of which were launched this year.


At the entrance to the venue, the "Carmeleon," a mobile experiential learning vehicle from the Happy Village School, and the "Alaboca," a mobile science museum operated by the Science Education Center, will be available for visitors.


Superintendent Park Jonghun delivered a welcome speech, saying, "I hope this meaningful occasion in Tongyeong, a city where art and history blend with the blue waves, will allow us to explore the direction of education together and share the wisdom and experience of each office of education."


He added, "I also hope that we will continue to cooperate and fulfill our mission to change the world through education to the very end."
