Securing 900 Rental Agricultural Machines,
Introducing Delivery Services,
and Enhancing Safety Training to Boost Agricultural Competitiveness
Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province completed the construction of the 'Yeongju City Agricultural Machinery Hub Center,' which boasts the largest agricultural machinery rental infrastructure in the country, on November 20 and has begun full-scale operations.

This center is designed to handle agricultural machinery rental, maintenance, and training functions within a single complex, with the goal of improving convenience and safety for local farmers.
The opening ceremony was attended by Yoo Jeonggeun, Acting Mayor of Yeongju City; Lim Jongdeuk, National Assembly member; Park Seongman, Chairman of the North Gyeongsang Provincial Council; Lim Byeongha, Provincial Assembly member; Kim Byeonggi, Chairman of the Yeongju City Council; as well as key figures, heads of local farmers’ organizations, representatives from the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, and around 150 residents.
The hub center was built in the Anjeong-myeon area on a site of 26,202 square meters, with a building area of 4,718 square meters, and a total project cost of 10.8 billion won. The center consists of nine buildings, including rental offices, maintenance rooms, training halls, and large agricultural machinery storage warehouses. It is also equipped with sorting facilities for different varieties of soybeans and a driving practice field for agricultural machinery, further strengthening its training functions.
With this expansion, the city plans to increase its rental agricultural machinery inventory from 608 units to 900 units and will officially introduce a delivery service, which is in high demand among farmers.
In addition, the city will enhance agricultural machinery safety education programs to prevent accidents during the busy farming season, utilizing the training and practice facilities.
Yoo Jeonggeun, Acting Mayor of Yeongju City, stated, "In the context of an aging rural population, support for agricultural machinery is essential," and added, "By linking rental, maintenance, training, and support projects around the hub center, we will strengthen the competitiveness of Yeongju City's agriculture."
Yeongju City plans to expand support for small and medium-sized agricultural machinery to 300 units in 2025 and 400 units in 2026. The city will also gradually increase agricultural work agency services for elderly farmers aged 70 and over, as well as for those who are vulnerable in terms of access to agricultural machinery.
