The Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled announced on November 20 that it had signed a "Social Contribution Business Agreement for Improving Mobility Rights of People with Limited Mobility and Practicing ESG Management" with the Korea Racing Authority and the non-profit organization Stair Smash Club on November 19.
This agreement was established to accelerate the creation of a "barrier-free environment" in the local community and to practice ESG management through public-private cooperation.
Under the agreement, the three organizations will cooperate in various areas, including: ▲ joint campaigns and collection of accessibility data to create a barrier-free environment; ▲ expansion of social contribution activities with direct participation by employees of the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled and the Korea Racing Authority; and ▲ support for the operation of Stair Smash Club's citizen-participatory accessibility data platform.
In particular, employees of the two public institutions will visit cafes, restaurants, and other locations nationwide to collect on-site accessibility information for people with limited mobility, such as types of entrances and the presence or absence of stairs or ramps. The collected information will be incorporated into the Stair Smash Club map app and provided as practical data that people with limited mobility can use in their daily lives.
Lee Jongseong, President of Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, Jeong Kihwan, Chairman of Korea Racing Authority, and Park Subin and Lee Daeho, Co-CEOs of Stairbreaker Club, are taking a commemorative photo after signing the agreement.
Lee Jongseong, President of the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, said, "It is meaningful that the three organizations are joining forces to improve the mobility rights of people with disabilities, which is a social value," and added, "Since free movement is the starting point for greater social participation, I hope this collaboration will lead to meaningful change."
Jeong Kihwan, Chairman of the Korea Racing Authority, stated, "This agreement is an important step toward an inclusive society where all members, including people with limited mobility, can move without discrimination," and added, "As a public institution, we will continue a variety of social contribution activities to promote ESG management and the spread of social value."
Park Subin and Lee Daeho, Co-CEOs of Stair Smash Club, said, "Based on our experience of building more than 100,000 pieces of accessibility information with over 4,000 citizens, we will do our best to operate the platform so that this collaboration can provide practical information to more people with limited mobility."
