MOU Signed with UAE Company for Pilot Application of Medical Foundation Model
Lunit, a medical artificial intelligence (AI) company, announced on November 20 that it was invited to a corporate MOU signing ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, which was held in line with President Lee Jaemyung's state visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). At the event, Lunit signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ARJ Group, a UAE-based IT infrastructure and healthcare integration company, for collaboration on medical AI and digital health innovation.

This event was organized to coincide with President Lee Jaemyung's first state visit to the Middle East. Lunit was included among the government-invited companies for strategic industry and economic cooperation in areas such as AI and advanced technology with Middle Eastern countries, and achieved results by establishing collaboration with a local UAE company.
Established in 1997, ARJ Group is a medical science and technology integration company that covers both IT infrastructure and medical technology in the Middle East. The company provides end-to-end solutions incorporating the latest global technologies, with a focus on optimizing and localizing these solutions to suit regional characteristics and demands.
The MOU aims to pilot the application of a "medical science-specialized AI foundation model," currently under development through a government project, in hospitals and public healthcare institutions across the Middle East, including the UAE. This will be based on Lunit's AI technology and ARJ Group's local infrastructure, partnerships, and networks. The two companies have agreed to cooperate in various areas, including the demonstration of medical AI technology, and to promote digital innovation in the Middle Eastern healthcare sector.
In particular, since ARJ Group has expanded its business not only to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries but also to Europe and China, providing integrated core digital infrastructure and medical AI solutions to a diverse range of clients including government agencies, public healthcare systems, major hospitals, and energy companies, this collaboration is expected to serve as an important bridgehead for the global expansion of the foundation model.
Beomseok Seo, CEO of Lunit, stated, "This MOU marks a meaningful first step in introducing AI foundation model-based medical innovation. It provides an opportunity to implement and expand the future of AI-based medical projects, which began in Korea, in the Middle East. Based on this, we will further accelerate our business and revenue growth in the region."
