No Seungchun Becomes Brain Dead After Traffic Accident
Gives New Life to Four People Through Organ Donation
A man in his 50s, who became brain dead after a traffic accident, saved the lives of four people through organ donation before passing away.
According to the Korea Organ and Tissue Donation Agency on November 19, No Seungchun (aged 55) donated his heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys at Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital of The Catholic University of Korea on August 14, giving four people the gift of a new life.
Four days before his death, on the 10th, he was involved in a traffic accident and transported to the hospital, but he never regained consciousness and fell into a brain-dead state. The family's grief was especially deepened as the day after the accident was the birthday of his son.
His family shared that he had often expressed his wish to donate his organs. In particular, his grandchild was born with a congenital visual impairment, so he understood better than anyone how precious it is to share life. He also believed that doing good deeds would one day bring about a miracle, allowing his grandchild to see the bright world.
Born as the youngest of two sons and one daughter in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, the late No Seungchun was known for his cheerful and active personality and enjoyed spending time with others. He was always a husband and father who put his family first. He worked in various fields, including running his own business and factory construction, and was a warm-hearted person who would readily offer help to those in need. Even on the day of the accident, he was diligently working to support his family, fulfilling his responsibilities to the very end.
His wife, Yoon Jeongim, shared her final farewell, saying, "No matter how hard things were, you never showed it and always thought only of your family. I am grateful to you and love you so much. I will now protect the family you wanted to keep safe, so please rest in peace."
