Flight Attendant Assaulted and Left Bleeding
An incident occurred in which a passenger assaulted a flight attendant onboard an operating passenger aircraft.
According to Yonhap News Agency on November 19, on November 17 at around 11 p.m., a passenger identified as A assaulted a flight attendant on Jin Air flight LJ073, which had departed from Busan and was en route to Cebu. It was reported that A had first gotten into an argument with another passenger, and then struck the flight attendant who was trying to intervene. The assaulted flight attendant was reportedly bleeding and sustained bruises.
The airline calmed A down and isolated the passenger in a separate seat. The aircraft arrived at its destination, Cebu, without an emergency landing, and A was handed over to the local airport police. According to Article 43 of the Aviation Security Act, anyone who assaults a flight attendant or others onboard an aircraft and endangers the safety of the aircraft and passengers may face up to 10 years in prison.
A Jin Air representative stated, "This case is a serious violation that could have a significant impact on aviation safety and security, and we plan to take firm legal action against the passenger in accordance with relevant laws and regulations."
