Sales and Exhibition of Cultural Artisan Products

Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on November 19 that it will open the 'Anseong Matchum Market & Anseong Cultural Market' at Starfield Anseong on the 29th as part of its cultural city development project.

The 'Anseong Matchum Market & Anseong Cultural Market' is a complex cultural and commercial space created by remodeling an area previously used as a platform for the sale and distribution of agricultural and specialty products. This integrated space will not only distribute and exhibit local agricultural products but also showcase works by cultural artisans and local brand products.

The opening aims to secure a hub for the Anseong Cultural Market and establish a foundation for the stable production, exhibition, and distribution of creative content by local cultural artisans. By transforming an existing local agricultural product sales area into a complex cultural space, the city is experimenting with a convergence model that seeks to revitalize the local commercial district and foster the cultural industry simultaneously.

To commemorate the opening, the city will operate cultural experience programs from November 24 to 30, open to all local residents and visitors. During the opening period, various programs will be held, including exhibitions of certified works by Anseong cultural artisans, craft and lifestyle culture experiences, and special events.

At the venue, the 'Anseong Art Goods Fair' (November 29-30) and the 'Anseong Matchum Dessert Contest Winners Exhibition' (November 28-30) will also be held to celebrate the opening.

Starting with the opening of this space, Anseong City plans to gradually implement initiatives such as discovering unused spaces, establishing a foundation for cultural artisans to settle, supporting regional branding and distribution, linking creative ecosystem policies, and building a digital archive.

Bora Kim, Mayor of Anseong, stated, "This opening is a meaningful example of transforming everyday spaces into regional cultural assets," adding, "We will continue to expand the cultural foundation where Anseong's cultural artisans and citizens can grow and be active together."
