Local Campus and Korea Startup Forum Collaboration
Strengthening Practical Entrepreneurship Education and Startup Linkages
From the laboratory directly to the market, Gyeongnam Information University is paving the way for AI entrepreneurship.
Gyeongnam Information University, known as "the leading community college in Busan," is expanding collaboration with the local startup ecosystem, focusing on the new Department of AI Entrepreneurship to be established in 2026.
On November 10, Gyeongnam Information University signed an agreement with Local Campus (represented by Kwon Youngchul) to connect the university's startup support infrastructure with Local Campus's practical startup spaces and commercialization programs. Through this partnership, the two sides aim to strengthen the entrepreneurial capabilities of students and young entrepreneurs in the region.

The two institutions plan to jointly promote step-by-step startup support programs, including: sharing startup spaces and infrastructure; consulting on government support projects; coaching on business plan writing and commercialization; and connecting startups with opportunities for residency and investment attraction.
Local Campus is recognized as a leading regional startup hub in Busan's Seomyeon area, providing early-stage entrepreneurs with workspaces, networking, and mentoring, as well as support for government projects and investment attraction.
On November 14, the university also established a cooperative framework with the Korea Startup Forum Southeast Council (chaired by Kim Minji), agreeing to jointly pursue initiatives such as sharing startup policy and industry trends, operating professional mentoring and investment linkage programs, cooperating on government support projects, and expanding the local startup network.
In particular, the forum's experience in supporting startups and its extensive network will be applied to the Department of AI Entrepreneurship's curriculum, enabling students to experience real startup environments and expand opportunities to collaborate with local companies.
Ahn Sungwoo, head of the Department of AI Entrepreneurship, stated, "The curriculum is designed for students to grow into practical entrepreneurs based on AI technology. Through this agreement, we will support students in verifying their ideas and gaining commercialization experience in real startup environments, fostering competitive entrepreneurial talent."
Im Junwoo, Vice President for Industry-Academia Cooperation, said, "Collaboration with these two organizations is significant for strengthening practical entrepreneurship education and expanding students' hands-on startup experience. We will further enhance our startup support system centered on the Department of AI Entrepreneurship and the Startup Support Group, reinforcing our role as a regionally based startup hub university."
