The opening ceremony for the renovated first floor and plaza of the Kumoh National Institute of Technology library was held on the 17th. The event was attended by Kwak Hosang, President of Kumoh National Institute of Technology, Kim Jangho, Mayor of Gumi, Park Kyosang, Chairman of the Gumi City Council, and Yoon Jongho, member of the North Gyeongsang Provincial Council, as well as other city and provincial council members. In total, more than 300 people, including university executives, students, and library staff, participated. National Assembly members Koo Jageun (Gumi-si Gap) and Kang Myeonggu (Gumi-si Eul) sent congratulatory messages to celebrate the reopening.

Kumoh National Institute of Technology transformed the aging reading rooms on the library's first floor into open reading spaces, creating a comfortable, user-centered learning environment. The renovation of the plaza in front of the library now allows local residents to use the space as well. Through a naming contest, the first floor was named "Yeollin Maru" (Open Hall), and the plaza in front of the library was named "Kumoh Plaza."

The original first floor of the library had maintained its function as a learning and research-centered space, but due to aging facilities, it lacked areas for relaxation, culture, and communication. With this renovation, open study rooms, seminar rooms, group study rooms, and a cafe have been added, transforming the area into a cultural complex that encompasses learning, research, culture, relaxation, and communication.

Additionally, Kumoh Plaza has been expanded with rest and convenience facilities, making it an open community space where students, faculty, and local residents can all spend time together.

Song Ji-hye, Director of the Kumoh National Institute of Technology Library, stated, "The Kumoh National Institute of Technology Library is evolving from a place for mere storage and reading of materials to a hub that connects knowledge and people. We will continue to expand user-centered library services in the future."

Kwak Hosang, President of Kumoh National Institute of Technology, commented, "Through the remodeling of the library and the creation of the plaza, I expect the library to become more than just a learning space. It will serve as an open venue for communication and cultural exchange among university members and local residents."
