Haenam County and Ttangkkeut Agricultural Cooperative Participate
1 Billion Won Support Per Location
The Agricultural Worker Dormitory Remodeling Support Project aims to expand and improve accommodations for foreign seasonal workers, thereby enhancing their living conditions and ensuring the sustainability of local agriculture.
For this round of applications, Haenam County (with 30% funded by the province and 70% by the county) and Ttangkkeut Agricultural Cooperative (with 21% funded by the province, 49% by the county, and 30% self-funded) participated.
South Jeolla Province plans to finalize the project recipients by the end of this month after reviewing basic requirements and conducting both document and on-site evaluations. Two locations will be selected, each receiving 1 billion won in support.
During the meeting, council members agreed on the urgent need to improve the working and living conditions of foreign workers, emphasizing that the renovation and expansion of dormitories is a pressing issue. They also called for a review of regional equity through broader regional measures and the establishment of clear plans to prevent budget waste.
Additionally, they suggested remodeling vacant houses for use as dormitories and requested that every effort be made to ensure selection in the project competition.
Chairperson Lee Seongok stated, "I hope the opinions discussed will be well reflected in the project implementation process, providing tangible benefits to farming households and contributing to strengthening the competitiveness of Haenam agriculture."
