The Animal Health Department Research Club 'Anision' at Youngjin College is holding a pet jogging event along the Geumho River area in Daegu on the 17th.
The Anision club of the Animal Health Department was the first in the country in 2023 to adopt a pet walking trail and has continued to conduct regular Pet-gging activities.
Pet-gging is an environmental volunteer activity that involves picking up litter while walking with companion dogs. Anision has adopted the Airport Riverside Road in Buk-gu, Daegu, near the college, and has been consistently conducting activities about four times a year.
Kang Hyungseung, a first-year student and president of Anision, said, "As a student aspiring to become an animal health professional, I am taking the lead in environmental protection and working to establish a proper culture of walking companion dogs through ongoing Pet-gging activities."
Yoon Chaeyeon, a first-year student, said, "I am glad I joined the club because I can give back to society by protecting the environment while walking with adorable dogs."
Bae Donghwa, head of the Animal Health Department, stated, "It is truly commendable to see students using their major knowledge to promote proper pet culture through Pet-gging activities. In addition to fostering a love for companion animals, we will strive to nurture talents who can build a sense of community."
Meanwhile, the Anision club plans to participate in volunteer activities at an abandoned dog shelter near Nam-gu Office in Daegu on the 28th.
Youngjin College's Animal Health Department aims to train animal health professionals equipped with global, high-quality companion animal medical services, producing certified animal health technicians with national qualifications.
