"Faster City Administration" ... Mayor Hong Taeyong Reviews Key 8th-Term Initiatives in Gimhae

Hong Taeyong, Mayor of Gimhae City in Gyeongnam Province, has begun reviewing the progress of key initiatives and requests for the 8th term of elected officials.

On November 17, Mayor Hong led the '8th Term Elected Officials’ Current Projects and Requests Progress Review Meeting' in the small conference room at City Hall, conducting a comprehensive review of the status of major projects and the progress of requests he had made.

The meeting was attended by over 60 team leaders and higher-ranking officials from 29 departments. The agenda included 45 key issues such as the implementation of the Gimhae-style free public transportation policy (Gimhae Pass), the establishment of a Northeast Asia logistics platform, the creation of the Gyeongnam Global Convergence Content Industry Town, and the construction of the Gimhae Public Medical Center.

Discussions also covered community-focused projects, including the renovation of multi-family housing in the old downtown area and the development of safety measures for the school route to Sinmun Elementary School.

At the meeting, Gimhae City reviewed on-site challenges identified during the implementation of current projects and devised concrete response strategies to accelerate projects that have experienced delays by diagnosing their causes.

Additionally, the city decided to strengthen project momentum through collaboration with relevant agencies such as central government ministries and Gyeongnam Province, and to seek strategies for securing external resources such as national and provincial funding for large-scale investment projects.

Mayor Hong emphasized, "Ultimately, the success of every policy comes down to timing," and called on departments to break down barriers between them in order to resolve obstacles in project implementation.

He added, "Let us work together to create a city administration that citizens can tangibly feel is moving at a faster pace."
