Smart Remote Meter Reading System Implementation Project and More
Hwasun County in South Jeolla Province has completed the first internal review and the second round of online resident voting for the '2025 County Administration Innovation Best Practices Contest,' and has selected the final three outstanding cases.
On November 17, the county announced that it had selected eight projects for the main review out of a total of 21 outstanding cases through the first internal review, and then conducted an online resident vote using Naver Form for the second round of evaluation.
A total of 1,398 residents participated in this vote, demonstrating a high level of interest. As a result, the 'Smart Remote Meter Reading System Implementation Project' by the Water and Sewage Office received the most support and ranked first.
This project was highly praised for improving the accuracy and efficiency of meter readings through remote-based automation, thereby enhancing resident convenience.
Lee Hyunseok, Head of the Water and Sewage Office, stated, "'The Smart Remote Meter Reading System' is a service innovation that goes beyond accurate meter readings to encompass welfare, safety, and complaint convenience," adding, "We will further advance the system into an AI-based abnormal usage detection and leakage prediction system to realize a smart water supply that residents can truly experience."
With the introduction of the Smart Remote Meter Reading System, the county has established a digital administrative model focused not only on simple meter reading work but also on resident safety and daily convenience. Various smart administrative services aimed at improving the quality of life for county residents are expected to be further expanded in the future.
The second place went to the Resident Safety Division's 'Drone Monitoring Activities to Prevent Heat Wave Damage.' This initiative was recognized for its innovation in using drones to inspect areas vulnerable to heat waves and proactively identify risk areas, thereby providing tailored safety measures.
The third place was awarded to the Construction and Transportation Office's 'Convenient 100-Won Taxi Card Payment System.' This project was well received for enhancing rural transportation welfare, improving residents' mobility rights, and creating a more convenient payment environment.
To thank residents for their active participation in the contest, the county awarded coffee coupons to 10 participants selected by lottery from among the online voters.
Kim Seungoh, Director of Planning and Audit, stated, "Administrative innovation is not just the effort of the administration, but a process created together with residents," adding, "We will continue to gather resident opinions through various channels and continuously discover innovative achievements that residents can truly feel."
