KakaoPay Says "Additional Plans Under Discussion" Amid Greater-Than-Expected Success
KakaoPay announced on November 17 that the number of steps taken by participants in the '2025 Long Run' small business donation marathon campaign, conducted in collaboration with singer Sean's YouTube channel, has surpassed 3 billion. CEO Shin Wonkeun personally appeared in the content alongside Sean, brainstorming together to plan the small business donation campaign.
KakaoPay stated that from November 14 to November 30, it is accepting online applications for participation, and if the total number of steps reaches 1 billion, it will donate 1 billion won to the Foundation for Working Together. The campaign exceeded expectations by surpassing 3 billion steps in just four days.
According to KakaoPay, the campaign reached 1 billion steps within 28 hours of its launch on November 15, and 2 billion steps on November 16. As of 4 p.m. on November 17, a total of 133,338 people had participated, accumulating approximately 3.02103 billion steps.
The offline event will take place at 9 a.m. on December 6 at Hanam Misajeong Park in Gyeonggi Province. Participants will run 10 kilometers together with Sean.
Applications for the offline event were accepted from November 14 on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 5,000 people. An additional 50 participants were selected through an online event.
A KakaoPay representative said, "We are discussing additional plans as a way to thank participants for their enthusiastic support even after achieving the 1 billion steps goal."
CEO Shin stated, "In line with the campaign slogan, 'Run Together, Run Longer,' I hope many users will enjoy walking and running together, have a special experience of donating, and truly feel the value of mutual growth in their daily lives."
