This visit was made to attend the 20th anniversary celebration of friendly exchanges between the two cities, with Mayor Jung Jangsun leading a 22-member delegation that included representatives from the city government, city council, International Exchange Foundation, Sports Association, Pyeongtaek Forum, and Pyeongtaek International Exchange Association.

The two cities began their exchanges in the early 2000s through meetings between civic groups, and in 2004, they signed a formal friendship exchange agreement.

The delegation attended the 20th anniversary ceremony of the friendship exchange in Matsuyama and participated in the city's largest event, the "Industrial Festival," where they carried out various exchange activities. During the festival, the Pyeongtaek Nongak Performance Troupe gave a special invited performance.

The delegation also held an award ceremony for the International Children's Art Exchange Exhibition, presenting certificates and souvenirs to children from Matsuyama who participated in the exhibition held in Pyeongtaek last June. The two cities agreed to further promote initiatives such as youth cultural camps, library exchanges, and regular art exchange exhibitions in the future.

Jung Jangsun, Mayor of Pyeongtaek, stated, "Pyeongtaek and Matsuyama have developed a strong bond of trust as the administrations have continued the precious ties initiated by the citizens," adding, "I hope this visit will further spread the value of citizen-centered local diplomacy."
