The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 17th that it has selected four outstanding schools through a comprehensive evaluation of school meal operations for 2025.
This initiative is conducted annually to select outstanding schools in overall school meal operations, with the aim of improving the quality of school meals and increasing the interest and satisfaction of students and parents.
This year’s evaluation comprehensively reviewed the overall level of meal service operations, including hygiene, safety management, menu planning, student satisfaction, and efforts to reduce food waste. As a result, four schools-Gosan Elementary School, Hwadong Elementary School, Daeseo Middle School, and Daegu Science & Technology High School-were selected.
The selected schools will be awarded a plaque recognizing them as a “2025 Outstanding School Meal Institution” and will receive a prize of 10 million won, which can be used to improve the meal service environment, such as upgrading kitchen equipment. In addition, best practices from these schools will be shared and disseminated to all schools through professional training programs and other channels.
Kang Eunhee, Superintendent of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, “By selecting outstanding schools for meal service, we aim to enhance the quality of school meals and increase student satisfaction. We will continue to support all schools so that they can provide healthy and safe meals.”
