Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Liberation... 20,000 Runners Complete the 'Peace Marathon'
On the 16th, Mayor Lee attended the '2025 Sohn Kee-chung Peace Marathon' held at Goyang Sports Complex and delivered a welcome speech.
Emphasizing that this is a "meaningful event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Liberation," Mayor Lee said, "I hope everyone enjoys the freedom of running on the open road and takes this opportunity to reflect on the significance of Liberation."
On this day, about 20,000 runners from across the country raced energetically along the car-free Second Jayu-ro, sharing a message of peace and freedom.

On the same day, Mayor Lee also attended the 27th Goyang Special City Mayor's Taekwondo Tournament held at the Goyang Eoullimnuri Gymnasium.
With over 1,000 athletes from kindergarten to elementary, middle, and high school competing in poomsae and sparring, Mayor Lee encouraged the young Taekwondo athletes, saying, "I hope you demonstrate your skills and abilities to the fullest and have no regrets in your matches."

Earlier, on the 15th, Mayor Lee visited the '2025 Goyang Street Rush in Lafesta' event to interact with citizens.
Watching the 50-meter race held in the brightly lit city center, Mayor Lee delivered a message of encouragement, saying, "I hope you enjoy the thrill of racing and savor these passionate moments." Around 500 participants competed in the speed contest that day.

Throughout the two-day weekend, Mayor Lee focused on promoting citizens' health and fostering community unity by participating in large-scale sports events and addressing key local issues.
