Gunpo Surisan Seulgibong Wildfire Brought Under Control in 1 Hour and 20 Minutes

The major wildfire that broke out at around 4:00 p.m. on November 15 at Seulgibong Peak in Surisan Mountain, Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, was brought under control approximately one hour and twenty minutes after the fire was reported.

Upon receiving the fire report, the forestry and fire authorities deployed seven wildfire suppression helicopters, about 50 vehicles, and approximately 130 personnel to carry out firefighting operations.


Subsequently, at around 5:23 p.m., one hour and twenty minutes after the fire was reported, the main blaze was brought under control, and authorities are currently working to extinguish remaining embers.


No casualties have been reported so far.


At approximately 4:25 p.m., Gunpo City issued a disaster alert via text message, advising nearby residents and hikers to evacuate.


At the site on this day, winds were blowing at a speed of 0.8 meters per second.


Once the fire is fully extinguished, the forestry authorities plan to dispatch a wildfire investigation team to determine the exact area damaged and investigate the specific cause of the fire.
