New Balance announced on its website, "Currently, due to an unexpected delay in the logistics center's operations, the shipment of some orders is taking longer than usual," and added, "Products are being prepared for shipment sequentially."
The company further stated, "We will provide updates as soon as the exact schedule is confirmed," and "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused."
E-Land also posted similar notices on the websites of its own brands, such as Spao and Roem.
The Cheonan logistics center stores products for 10 brands, including not only New Balance but also Spao and Who.A.U, so deliveries of products from these brands are expected to be delayed.
According to fire authorities, a fire broke out at the E-Land Fashion logistics center in Pungse-myeon, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, Chungnam at around 6:10 a.m. on the same day, and the initial suppression was completed after approximately 9 hours and 30 minutes. All three employees on site, including security guards, evacuated safely, and there were no casualties from the fire.
Fire authorities initially issued a Level 1 response, but as clothing and other materials inside the logistics center acted as kindling and the fire spread rapidly, the response was elevated to Level 2. Completed in July 2014, this logistics center consists of one basement floor and four above-ground floors (with a total floor area of 193,210 square meters), can accommodate 150 cargo trucks simultaneously, and is a large-scale facility capable of handling up to 50,000 boxes per day and 4 to 5 million boxes annually.
