The RISE Project Group at Silla University (President: Heo Namsik) implemented an “On-site Practical Training Program” to strengthen major-based practical education.
On November 7, students from the Department of Dental Hygiene and the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management at Silla University had the opportunity to experience the actual workflow at local industry sites.
The Department of Dental Hygiene visited the anatomy laboratory at Pusan National University College of Medicine and carried out the “Pusan National University School of Dentistry Cadaver On-site Training” program. This program allowed students to systematically experience basic medical learning, including observing the anatomy of the whole body and head and neck, deepening their understanding of the oral and maxillofacial regions, and enhancing their clinical analysis and application skills.
Students who directly observed the actual human anatomy commented, “Recalling what we learned in our major courses, it was extremely helpful in developing the anatomical insights needed in clinical settings.”
Kim Yurin, Head of the Department of Dental Hygiene at Silla University, emphasized, “Anatomy is the foundation of competency in dental hygiene, so this cadaver training is a very important learning opportunity for our students. We will continue to strengthen education that enhances professionalism and practical skills by working in conjunction with the graduate school of medicine.”

On the same day, the “Hotel and Tourism Practical Experience Program” was held at the Westin Chosun Hotel. Students from the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management experienced the workflow of the tourism industry step by step, including understanding hotel and tourism job roles and core competencies, learning about the operation and service flow for each room type, and practicing food and beverage operations and table manners.
Through a Q&A session with hotel professionals, students gained practical information required in the field, such as job classifications within the industry, service standards, customer service methods, and career planning insights.
Kim Jungeun, Head of the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management, said, “The practical experience program is highly effective in helping students directly experience the professionalism of the tourism industry, thereby strengthening their career awareness and competencies. We will continue to expand industry-centered field education to foster practical talents in the hotel and tourism sectors.”
The Department of Dental Hygiene and the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management at Silla University each collaborated with professional organizations and industry partners to operate field training and hands-on education programs, enabling students to better understand their majors and explore career paths more effectively.
A student who participated in the program shared, “It was a meaningful opportunity to communicate directly with those in charge at the site and learn about the structure of the industry and how services are operated.”
Hwang Inju, Head of the RISE Project Group, stated, “This practical training is an example of maximizing educational effectiveness by organically connecting the university’s educational resources with the local industrial field. The RISE Project Group will continue to expand cooperation with local industries in healthcare, tourism, and service sectors to help students accurately understand real job environments and develop the competencies needed to respond to industrial changes.”
