Jang Eun-sul, Chairman of the Jae Seogwipo City Jeonnam Residents Association, and its executives recently announced their strong support for attracting the artificial sun research facility site to Jeollanam-do, as promoted by the government.
The Jeonnam Residents Association stated, "The artificial sun research facility is a core foundation for the future energy industry of Korea. Jeonnam's abundant energy resources, research infrastructure, and the passionate spirit of its residents make it the optimal location," adding, "Bringing the facility to Jeonnam will not only contribute to national energy self-sufficiency but also greatly promote balanced regional development."
They went on to say, "Out of love for our hometown, we wish to contribute to attracting this significant national project for Jeonnam's future," and emphasized, "All our members are united in their support, and we look forward to a wise decision from the government."
This declaration of support is a warm expression of solidarity from those who have settled in Jeju after leaving their hometown, sharing the aspiration for Jeonnam to secure future growth engines and attract national strategic projects. The association plans to continue various activities and heartfelt support for the development of their hometown.
The Jae Seogwipo City Jeonnam Residents Association, established in 1971, is a leading association of Jeonnam natives in the Jeju region, estimating about 50,000 Jeonnam-born residents living in Seogwipo City. Last October, they donated 5 million won to the Hometown Love Fund for Chuseok and have consistently engaged in community service and activities for the development of their hometown.
Meanwhile, Jeollanam-do is establishing a cooperative system with related organizations, academia, and industry to respond to the Ministry of Science and ICT's call for proposals for the 'Core Fusion Technology Development and Advanced Infrastructure Construction Project' site. Through close collaboration with each institution, the province is making an all-out effort to gain a competitive edge in attracting the project.
