The Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post (SCMP) recently reported the story of Allen, a 33-year-old man from Kochi Prefecture, Japan. During his school years, he was constantly teased by classmates because of his appearance and personality. His classmates would secretly look inside his desk during cleaning time, spread malicious rumors, and even subjected him to physical abuse, such as poking his head with a compass.
This violence went beyond simple teasing and became a form of personal humiliation. Eventually, Allen's resentment exploded, leading him to commit delinquent acts such as stealing bicycles and motorcycles. As a result, he was sent to a juvenile detention center.
After being released from the juvenile center at the age of 18, Allen resolved to prove that those who bullied him were wrong by undergoing plastic surgery. He said, "If I become the most beautiful person in the world, I will win. The boys and girls who bullied me will just grow old."
He began with surgeries on his nose, mouth, and eyes, and went on to have more than 200 procedures, including operations on his hips and legs. The total cost amounted to about 100 million yen (approximately 950 million won). In an interview, Allen shared, "I plan to continue having surgeries for the rest of my life."
Allen now confidently presents himself to the public, calling himself a "beautiful person." He shares his daily life and photos through social media, where he has more than 335,000 followers.
Online users have left supportive comments such as, "His courage to change his life is amazing," "I gain strength from seeing Allen," and "He is truly beautiful." However, there have also been negative reactions, including, "Is it right to change your appearance for revenge?" "True confidence and self-esteem come from within, not from appearance," and "It's sad and unfortunate."
