Samsung Electronics will launch the foldable smartphone 'Galaxy Z Tri-fold,' which can be folded twice, next month.
According to industry sources on November 13, Samsung Electronics plans to hold an official launch event for the Tri-fold on December 5 and begin domestic sales.

The Tri-fold is an advanced model in the Fold series, which previously allowed the screen to be folded only once on both sides. It is designed with a structure that enables the screen to be folded twice. When fully unfolded, the screen measures about 10 inches, but thanks to its double-folding capability, its portability is comparable to that of a regular smartphone.
Samsung Electronics plans to introduce the Tri-fold first in major Asian markets, including Korea, China, Singapore, and Dubai.
However, the retail price is expected to be higher than existing foldable smartphones. This is due to the more complex hinge structure required for double folding, as well as the addition of extra display components. Industry experts estimate the retail price of the Galaxy Z Tri-fold to be in the high 3 million won to low 4 million won range. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, released in July, was priced at 2,379,300 won for the 256GB model and 2,537,700 won for the 512GB model.
The initial shipment volume of the Galaxy Z Tri-fold is reportedly set at around 20,000 to 30,000 units, which is lower than that of flagship smartphones. Considering the high price point and resulting consumer entry barriers, the industry views the Tri-fold as a strategic product aimed at showcasing Samsung's display technology rather than expanding sales.
Previously, at the end of last month, Samsung Electronics unveiled the physical device of the Tri-fold smartphone for the first time at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit held in Gyeongju.
