Bae Uicheol, the attorney representing former President Yoon Sukyeol, delivered a letter from Yoon written from prison. Former President Yoon stated, "When I see young people armed with the spirit of freedom, I have no worries about the future of our country."
On November 12, Attorney Bae posted on his social networking service (SNS) account a message titled "Remarks from President Yoon Sukyeol during the November 12 visitation." In this post, former President Yoon said, "I received a letter from a young pastor who is preparing a 'prayer meeting for the restoration of freedom and sovereignty' together with the youth," and added, "I am grateful for your prayers for me."
He further stated, "When I see young people armed with the spirit of freedom, I have no worries about the future of our country," and wrote, "I hope the words from the Book of James, 'Faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect,' will serve as a beacon for the youth."
He continued, "Many citizens have expressed concern for my health, which may deteriorate due to trials and investigations held up to four times a week, through their letters," and encouraged, "Everyone, stay strong. I am doing just fine."
In conclusion, he emphasized, "My fight is to appear in court, reveal falsehoods with the light of truth, and restore the rule of law with justice." He added, "I earnestly pray today as well for this land to be renewed with truth and justice, and for the citizens and youth who shed tears for the Republic of Korea's freedom."
The Criminal Division 25 of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Ji Guyoun) is scheduled to hold a trial for former President Yoon on charges of leading an insurrection at 10:10 a.m. on November 13.
