Muan County in South Jeolla Province is laying the foundation for future growth by implementing continuous, customized job policies that foster population growth, revitalize the local economy, and nurture promising companies.

As of the end of 2024, the population of Muan County stands at 92,687, recording the youngest average age (43.4 years) among the 22 cities and counties in South Jeolla Province. With the full-scale development of the Naman and Oryong districts underway, the population has continued to rise, and the county is pursuing the elevation to Muan City with the goal of reaching a population of 120,000.

Muan County is creating quality jobs by implementing tailored employment policies for specific groups such as youth, seniors, women, and vulnerable populations, including direct job creation, vocational skills development training, employment services, employment incentives, and support for job seekers and entrepreneurs.

For 2025, the county has set targets of a 66.4% employment rate, 51,300 employed persons, and 13,692 jobs in the public and private sectors. To achieve these goals, a total of 69.7 billion won will be invested in 293 projects across seven sectors. The county plans to avoid short-term jobs and focus on expanding regular and professional positions.

For direct job creation projects, 45 billion won will be allocated to 143 initiatives such as public work programs, senior jobs, and jobs for people with disabilities, targeting seniors and vulnerable groups. Additionally, 2 billion won is earmarked for talent development projects, including vocational skills training and support for youth entrepreneurship. The county will also strengthen the local industrial base by attracting companies, developing industrial complexes, and fostering smart farms.

Kim San, Governor of Muan County, stated, "Quality jobs are the most important factor in improving quality of life," and added, "The 2025 job policy focuses on creating an environment where all residents can work and building a 'Happy Muan Soaring to New Heights,' where young people and workers can thrive."

Meanwhile, the county has been recognized as a leading local government in employment policy, winning the 'Nationwide Local Government Job Award' in the public announcement category hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor for four consecutive years. This year, Muan County received the highest honor, the 'Grand Prize,' among all basic local governments nationwide.
