Jung-gu District of Daegu City (headed by District Mayor Ryu Kyuhwa) announced on November 11 that it has released its official representative character, "Baby White Heron Geundaero," through the district office's website.
"Baby White Heron Geundaero" was created with the concept of a storyteller who connects nature, tradition, and the warmth of people within the city. The character symbolically embodies the natural environment of the Sincheon riverside where white herons live, the historical and cultural significance of Modern Alley, the tradition of Yakryeong Market, and the vibrancy of Dongseong-ro.
Until October, the Jung-gu Office completed the renewal and production of "Baby White Heron Geundaero," developing one basic version and 27 variations (including festival, action, emotion, and SNS types). With its cute and warm image, the new character will serve as the "face of Jung-gu," making it more approachable and friendly to residents.
Jung-gu District plans to complete copyright and trademark registration within November and actively utilize the character in various areas, including promotional materials for each department, festivals, information brochures, and character merchandise. The district will also establish a management system to ensure that residents and tourists can naturally encounter "Baby White Heron Geundaero" in their daily lives, while strengthening its use and promotion.
District Mayor Ryu Kyuhwa stated, "'Baby White Heron Geundaero' is a character that symbolizes the charm of Jung-gu, where nature, tradition, and people come together. I hope it will grow alongside our residents and become a character that promotes Jung-gu's warm and vibrant city image nationwide."
