Enhancing Data Security and Digital Sovereignty by Storing Data Domestically

KT has partnered with Microsoft (MS) to introduce a new secure cloud service, the 'Secure Public Cloud.' KT officially launched the service and announced on November 12 that it will first be applied to companies in the financial and manufacturing sectors, with plans to expand it to a wide range of industries.
With this launch, KT has completed its multi-cloud lineup by combining its own cloud services with Microsoft Azure-based cloud solutions. This enables KT to further strengthen its competitiveness in the domestic Managed Service Provider (MSP) market.
The Secure Public Cloud is a Korea-specific cloud solution that simultaneously meets the requirements for large-scale infrastructure scalability and domestic regulatory compliance. It was developed to meet the needs of companies that prioritize data sovereignty and security. KT highlighted its strengths, including end-to-end encryption of data storage, transmission, and utilization; enhanced access control for customer resources; and domestic data storage and management.
In particular, the service incorporates 'Confidential Computing' technology, which encrypts data in memory to block external access. It also establishes a dedicated key management system that customers can control directly, based on hardware-based security devices, allowing users to manage the entire data encryption process themselves.
All data is stored and operated within Korea, and KT supports companies and organizations in fully securing their data sovereignty. In addition, KT plans to offer a variety of cloud options tailored to the security requirements of public and private sector clients, in collaboration with KT Cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and others.
Yoo Seobong, Head of the AX Business Division at KT Enterprise, stated, "The Secure Public Cloud is a safe cloud service that strengthens customers' digital sovereignty while meeting global standards for security and compliance. KT will gradually expand the scope of service application so that customers can experience a highly reliable sovereign cloud environment."
