Coupang Receives Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award: "Innovating Fresh Food Logistics Services"

Expanding the Standardization of Logistics Equipment

Coupang announced on November 12 that it has received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award at the 22nd Korea Pallet & Container Industry Awards.

This recognition was awarded to Coupang's Rocket Fresh Quality Assurance (QA) team for its contributions to the development and competitiveness of the industrial logistics sector by standardizing logistics equipment and improving the cold chain for dawn delivery in the unit load system container category.

The unit load system is a logistics method that consolidates multiple products into standardized units, such as pallets or containers, for transportation in a single move. This approach is more efficient than transporting individual products one by one. Using this system, Coupang ensures both worker safety and product quality.

Coupang has met EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) standards by standardizing octagon-shaped logistics equipment, focusing not only on worker safety but also on hygiene and environmental sustainability. These improvements have also contributed to reducing logistics costs by increasing loading efficiency. Through secondary packaging cold chain tests, Coupang improved the quality of cherry tomatoes and packaged bread, and by enhancing the packaging method for stemless cherry tomatoes, the company further increased freshness.

Container usage has also been steadily increasing. On-site, the adoption of unit load system containers has expanded, and in 2025, usage increased by more than 5% compared to 2024. This demonstrates that Coupang’s logistics equipment standardization strategy is delivering tangible results beyond mere planning. The expanded use of containers leads to greater logistics efficiency and provides a foundation for faster and more reliable delivery services to customers.

Looking ahead, Coupang plans to further expand the standardization of logistics equipment to ensure the safe distribution of various fresh foods, including eggs, bakery items, watermelons, tomatoes, and milk. A Coupang representative stated, "This award recognizes Coupang’s efforts to enhance overall industry efficiency and quality stability through logistics innovation tailored to fresh foods," adding, "We will continue to develop technology and promote standardization so that we can deliver differentiated quality in fresh foods that truly impress our customers."
