Export Consultations and MOU Worth $1.5 Million Signed with Yanmar Construction Equipment in Fukuoka, Japan
Jinju City, South Gyeongsang Province, announced on November 12 that it held the "Jinju City Export Companies Overseas Strategy Briefing" in Fukuoka, Japan, over two days on November 10 and 11.
This event was organized to strengthen the overseas market development competitiveness of export companies based in Jinju. It aimed to share successful cases of overseas expansion and promote mutual growth among companies.
Notably, the purchasing team of Yanmar Construction Equipment, a global construction machinery company, participated directly in the event and held trade consultations with Jinju-based export companies. This initiative was launched to actively respond to recent changes in U.S. tariff policies, which have prompted a shift from sourcing parts from China and other regions to procuring them from Korea. The goal was to secure new export opportunities for manufacturing companies in the Jinju area.
In addition, the Jinju Export Companies Council achieved tangible results by signing a memorandum of understanding with Yanmar for export consultations and transactions worth approximately 1.5 million dollars.
This MOU has laid the foundation for win-win cooperation among Jinju City, local companies, and Yanmar. It is expected to contribute not only to building a stable export base and expanding technology exchanges for regional companies, but also to strengthening overseas cooperation networks and diversifying export markets in the future.
Participating companies sought new export opportunities in response to the diversification of Yanmar Construction Equipment's purchasing policy. They also benchmarked excellent management techniques in production and quality control by touring the local factory in Fukuoka. During the strategy seminar, they identified recent trends in the Japanese market, and through industrial site visits, they examined Fukuoka's key industries and economic conditions to incorporate insights into their new business plans.
Jinju Mayor Jo Gyu-il stated, "I hope this overseas strategy briefing will help Jinju's export companies respond swiftly to changes in the global market and further enhance their overseas expansion capabilities. Jinju City will continue to strengthen support for local export companies to revitalize the regional economy."
A representative from one of the participating companies commented, "Through this briefing, we were able to directly confirm the real demand and quality standards of Japanese companies and gained much inspiration from observing local industrial sites. Thanks to Jinju City's support, we discovered the potential to pioneer new overseas markets."
Meanwhile, Yanmar Holdings, the parent company of Yanmar Construction Equipment, was founded in 1912 and specializes in manufacturing and selling diesel engines, agricultural machinery, and compact excavators. It is a major company with the second-largest sales of agricultural equipment in Japan. Yanmar established Yanmar Agricultural Machinery Korea in 2005 to enter the Korean market and currently operates a network of about 90 dealerships and direct service centers nationwide.
