Gyeongsan City (Mayor Cho Hyunil) announced on the 10th that it held the '2025 Gyeongsan Comic Festival Performance Sharing Meeting' in the conference room on the 2nd floor of the city hall annex.
This performance sharing meeting was organized to share the main achievements of the Gyeongsan Comic Festival, which celebrated its second edition this year, and to discuss future development directions.
About ten participants, including representatives from the Seosang-gil Village Management Social Cooperative, the Nambu-dong Volunteer Organization, Gyeongsan City and Gyeongbuk Technopark Foundation, as well as the festival’s service provider, attended the meeting to exchange opinions.
The Gyeongsan Comic Festival, held from the 1st to the 2nd in the Seosang-gil Youth Culture Village area, offered a variety of unique programs for visitors, including: a fan signing event and drawing performance by webtoon artists Ko Ilkwon and Choi Youngji; a talk concert and fan signing event with the YouTuber 'TV Saengmul Dogam'; a cosplay competition; webtoon, game, and AI experience events; a figure exhibition by artist Kim Junghwan; and a Korea-Japan comic and webtoon exchange exhibition.
In addition, during the festival, visitors to the village enjoyed a range of activities such as taking on alleyway mission tours with adventure maps alongside friends and family, viewing murals throughout the area, cheering for students who participated in the finals of the '1st Gyeongsan Comic & Webtoon Creation Contest' held at the Namcheon riverside, and relaxing at the Seosang Comic Room, a space where generations could enjoy comics together.
During the performance sharing meeting, it was evaluated that this year’s comic festival was a participatory event created by citizens, local comic artists, businesses, and universities, and that the festival was further enhanced by the Nambu-dong Volunteer Organization’s traffic management and operation of the general information center.
Suggestions for improvement included adjusting the schedule for the opening ceremony and stage programs, operating a wider variety of experience booths, expanding food zones and culinary offerings, and increasing the number of photo spots utilizing the alleys.
Furthermore, as the Gyeongsan Comic Festival is held in the Seosang-gil Youth Culture Village, it was emphasized that local residents should take a more active role, and that there is a need to develop programs connecting the Seosang Comic Room, webtoon creation studios, cafes, restaurants, and other alleyway businesses, so that citizens can enjoy these spaces not only during the festival but year-round.
A Gyeongsan City official stated, "Now in its second year, the Gyeongsan Comic Festival has established itself as a platform for mutual growth, bringing together citizens, artists, businesses, and universities," and added, "Based on Gyeongsan’s representative content and diverse industrial foundation, we will expand the Gyeongsan Comic Festival with 'the shining comic village' at its center, so that Gyeongsan can become a hub for the comic and webtoon industry."
