On November 11, the Yeongdeungpo District Office in Seoul (Mayor Choi Hogwon) announced that two district residents had won the Grand Prize and the Gold Prize, respectively, in the senior category of the “2025 National Happiness IT Competition.” The event was hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the National Information Society Agency (NIA). The district office explained that these achievements are a testament to the excellence of its informatization education programs.

This year's competition saw participation from 974 people nationwide, with 248 advancing to the finals. The finals were held under three themes: Digital Problem Solving, Digital Daily Life, and Digital Social Participation. Participants competed in skills such as using personal computers (PCs) and mobile devices.

In this competition, Park, a resident of Yeongdeungpo District, won the Grand Prize, while Song received the Gold Prize. Since 2015, Yeongdeungpo District has produced winners at the national level every year, and its systematic and continuous education aimed at bridging the digital divide is yielding tangible results.

Currently, informatization education in the district is being conducted at the YDP Future Lifelong Learning Center (20 Dosin-ro 4-gil). Those wishing to enroll can apply through the “Integrated Reservation” board on the district office’s website. As of October this year, a total of 127 courses have been offered, with 2,759 residents participating.

Building on these achievements, the district will newly host the “Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Utilization Competition” to further enhance residents’ digital skills. Evolving from last year’s digital knowledge quiz format, this year’s competition will be held under the theme “Yeongdeungpo: Future City Drawn by AI,” encouraging residents to showcase their creative ideas and practical AI utilization skills.

The competition will take place on December 4. Applications can be submitted via the “Integrated Reservation” section of the district office website from November 10 to 21. For more information, contact the district’s General Affairs Division.

Mayor Choi Hogwon stated, “These awards are the result of our residents’ passion for digital education and the district’s systematic support. Starting next year, we will designate regional AI education centers and provide full support so that every resident can become a leading figure in the era of digital transformation.”
